The Grove, Balham, London

Grove (pub, modern alfresco)

It was a good night out at our local pub. The food was quite superb, however the average meal is a touch on the dear side. This did not detract from the evening, though it might make me think twice about making it a regular haunt. We enjoyed a good few round of drinks with most of us having the house red, Kopurberg or Gaymer’s Pear cider.

My friend and I were looking forward to the Breast of West Country Chicken in a Mushroom Cream Sauce, unfortunately, by the time that we put in our order, they were all out of the Chicken. However, our waitress was very friendly and professional and provided us with other options, so even though we did not all get what we originally planned, we were happy with the replacements and the service.

The meals came out in a reasonably quick amount of time and they both looked and tasted very good indeed. Overall we enjoyed the evening with the atmosphere, decore and meal quality all contributing to a good night out.

Next trip, I am keen to try the board games they have there. A nice pub, getting lost playing games in the evening or on the weekend. With so many cold or chilly days in London, it's another good reason to go there.

So why not give it a go!
